Home automation
We design, install and look after the systems that run a home: one plan, wired properly, with controls everyone in the house can use.
-
Lighting, shades, climate, audio and security planned as one system, with a single app and wall keypads that make sense to guests as well as owners.
-
Keypads and scenes in place of crowded switch banks. Lights that rise gently in the morning, follow the sunset and turn off when the house is empty.
-
Quiet motorized shades timed to the sun, to cut glare and summer heat during the day and give you privacy after dark. Hardwired or battery powered.
-
Music in every room, home theater and patio sound. Speakers placed for the room, TVs mounted cleanly, and one remote or app that anyone can pick up.
-
Cameras, video doorbells, smart locks and garage control, set up so you get the alerts that matter and not a hundred that don't.
-
Smart thermostats and HVAC controls that hold a steady temperature through inversion winters and July afternoons, with energy use you can actually see.
-
The part most smart homes get wrong. A wired backbone, access points placed where they're needed, and a network sized for every device you own and the ones you'll add.
-
Smart technology added to the house you already live in: wireless where it makes sense, careful wiring where it doesn't, and walls left clean.
-
Repairs, maintenance and upgrades for systems someone else installed, or ones that have stopped working the way they used to.
One evening, every system
Integration means the systems work from the same plan. You don't open five apps; the house runs the evening for you.
- Before sunset West shades lower
- At sunset Lights rise to 40 percent
- Evening Heat settles at 70°
- Dinner Music in the kitchen
- Late Doors lock, cameras arm
- Morning Shades open, house at 68°

- General repairs
- Drywall, doors, trim, caulking and the small fixes that pile up.
- Electrical fixtures and lighting
- Light fixtures, ceiling fans, switches, outlets and under-cabinet lighting.

- Preventative care
- Seasonal walk-throughs that catch small problems before they become expensive ones.

About Harris Innovations
I took apart my first phone when I was about ten. Before long I was repairing and reselling smartphones, and later robot vacuums, that other people had given up on. Working out why something stopped working, and fixing it properly, is still my favorite part of the job.
That curiosity grew into about eight years of hands-on work in people's homes: technology installs, maintenance and repairs, property management and improvement projects of every size.
For a time I was the estate manager for a home of more than 17,000 square feet. Keeping a house of that scale running taught me how many systems a modern home depends on, and how much the people who live there value things that work the same way every day.
I founded Harris Innovations LLC in 2026 to bring that standard to homes across the Salt Lake Valley. Some projects are a whole-home automation design. Others are a thermostat that won't hold temperature or a TV that needs mounting. Each one gets the same attention.
When I finish a job, I want you to understand how your system works, and to know who to call if it ever needs anything.

Our approach
Every project, large or small, goes through the same four steps.
Listen. A consultation at your home: how you live, what frustrates you about the house now, and what you'd like it to do.
Design. A written plan and a clear quote: what goes where, why, and what it costs. No equipment you don't need.
Install. Clean, labeled wiring, careful work in finished spaces, and every scene tested before the job is called done.
Support. A walkthrough for the whole household, notes on what was installed, and a quick response when something needs attention.
